Prenatal Yoga!
I have this funny relationship with yoga where I struggle to force myself to go, but then I love it and feel amazing afterward..... so it seems it should be easy to want to go- yet it never is. However, I'm lucky to have a friend who is 4 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy and we have decided to attend a weekly prenatal yoga class on Saturdays at 11:15am. A workout buddy always seems to be just the motivation I need :-) Plus, 11:15am is the perfect time- I get to sleep in, but still finish early enough to have the whole day ahead of me. It certainly helps that the studio is a quick 5 minute drive from my house- I can easily walk this summer! There were only 4 of us in the class which made it feel wonderfully intimate. The stretching felt AMAZING and the moves felt like a good blend of challenging, but not pushing my limits too far. I felt very lucky to not have a belly yet, two of the other ladies in the class were in their third trimester and sporting big 'ol watermelon bellies. Those bellies look challenging to work around! Our instructor was tiny (as yogis generally seem to be) and was sporting a belly shirt which beautifully displayed her toned abs- it seemed rather inappropriate given the audience, but she was nice enough so I forgave her :-P Every single of one of us had to take at least one pee break during the 75 minute class which made me chuckle- it felt GREAT to be among people like me who have to pee at least once an hour :-P I really thought that didn't happen until the 3rd trimester when baby is taking up a lot of space, but turns out it happens right away! This is just one of what I'm sure will become many misconceptions about pregnancy :-P
