Maternity Clothes ~ Stitch Fix Solution!
In the past few years I’ve
started to experiment more with finding my own style… Clothes had always served
a practical purpose for me, but I didn’t consider them an opportunity for a
creative outlet. I assumed that I had to choose style or comfort and that was
an easy choice for me – COMFORT, for sure. Somewhat recently I discovered that
it’s possible to have BOTH! I’ve also come to enjoy the creative aspect of
finding things that may not seem to go together, but they can actually create
an interesting and even stunning outfit. I’m going through this process again
as I attempt to develop a wardrobe that accommodates my growing baby bump. Some
styles that worked well for my body type simply don’t work anymore!
A FUN
way to jump start the creative wardrobe process (which may feel daunting at
first,) is with Stitch Fix! It’s a total BLAST; I highly recommend trying it at
least once :-) The neat thing about it is that it exposes you to patterns,
styles, and textures of clothing that you may have never chosen for yourself.
It’s a great opportunity to try new things! Even if you know exactly what you
want, you can give your stylist a lot of direction and go that route, too. You
can literally request specific outfits that you have seen on the Stitch Fix
Pinterest board, if you would like to. If you need some creative inspiration
for your new items when thy arrive, Stitch Fix sends you two styling ideas for
each item!
1) Dariah Maternity Dress:
I’m usually not crazy about patterns or super bright colors, but I fell in LOVE
with this dress! The weather here is still a bit chilly, so I just added
leggings with black boots and it was perfect for an Alaskan spring. The
material was stretchy so I know that it will continue to grow, with me ;-)
2) Corinna Stripped Dolman
Top: I love gray and stripes, so I actually already own a similar shirt.
However, the shirt that I own is faded and stretched out so I haven’t worn it
in forever and this one is maternity so it will always fit :-D
3) Aleah V-Neck Solid
Dolman Sleeve Shirt: I don’t love the color of this shirt, and I’m not
usually a big fan of doman sleeves. This shirt would be alright for a lazy
weekend around the house or maybe a yoga class, but I would probably return it…
however, this it’s actually cheaper to KEEP it! (Explanation below in the
details.)
4) Henry Birds on Branch
Infinity Scarf: I usually don’t wear orange, but this scarf is gorgeous!
Better yet, I can wear it with two of the shirts that came in my fix :-)
5) Emer Textured Cropped
Straight Leg Pant: As a general rule I don’t wear light colors, texture, or
patterns on my bottom half and the straight-leg cut doesn’t usually work for me,
but these pants were incredibly comfortable and I was shocked at how flattering
they were. I had requested something mint colored for spring and this was the
awesome find that my stylist sent me!
This was an amazing fix!!!
First, Stitch Fix gets to know you - you fill out a style profile about your style preferences if you have them, what your body shape and size is, if you have parts that you like to show of or minimize, what type of activities you would like outfits for, etc.
Once you have selected a date when you want your fix to arrive, your personal stylist sends you 5 items. When your box of goodies neatly packaged in tissue wrap with a sweet personal note from your stylist arrives, you simply keep what you like and return what you don't want. You then go online to check out. You mark the items that you want to keep and give feedback about what you love about them and you mark the items that you didn’t care for and why. Your stylists use this feedback for future fixes. There is a $20 stylist fee that is non-refundable, but the only way that you lose $20 is if you happen to not like any of the 5 items that you were sent, because otherwise the $20 fee is a credit to the item or items you chose to keep! (Also, there’s no commitment to future fixes, so the $20 is the only risk involved with trying Stitch Fix.) In addition, shipping is FREE BOTH WAYS! (So that $20 styling fee is probably still less than if you ordered from a store and paid shipping and then didn’t like anything and had to pay the return shipping.) Each fix typically includes one accessory that may be about $30, so with the $20 credit the worst case is that you “lose” $10 and if the item isn’t your favorite, maybe it’s something a friend would love.If you happen to love everything in your fix and want to keep it all- you get an additional 25% off your entire order! Actually, even if you like 4 of the 5 items, it’s often still cheaper to keep all 5 items and get the 25% off. The extra item that you don’t care for you could always sell to someone else or maybe it would make the perfect gift for a friend ;-) Stitch Fix is SO EASY that they even include a bag that’s pre-addressed with free postage, for you to stuff the items that you don’t want into. Free shipping AND no trip to the post office and waiting in a long liner required!
I happen to live in a town with very limited shopping and shipping here is more expensive than most places, so Stitch Fix is pure gold! I have tried Stitch fix a few times and always loved it, but this was the first time I tried the maternity fix and it ended up being the best one, yet! I can wear all of these items in the future when I’m not pregnant and they will continue to be comfortable as I (hopefully) shrink back down to my original size.
There’s one last thing to sweeten the deal. If you try a Stitch Fix and love it, of course you’re going to tell your friends about it- and if they use your referral link, you get a $20 credit toward your next fix! Look fabulous and get more free clothes?! I love this plan <3 If you found this post informative and useful and you would like to try a fun new Stitch Fix feel free to use my link :-) https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3589631
Happy fixing! I hope you love it! I'd love to hear back about how your experience was :-)
