Do Not Strive to Pursue Happiness, Create It
What you seek you find, but with the big stuff, the search is within ourselves. The trick to having it all is knowing that you already do. If you strive to achieve something then when you finally do you'll simply set a new goal, so you will never feel like you have arrived. Even an attempt at celebration rings false because your logical mind has already moved on to the next goal. The only way to win in this conundrum is to know that you are already exactly where you should be and learn to enjoy everything that you have right now. Too often we don't know what we have until it's gone. Wouldn't it be great to know you could look back and say that you know you enjoyed every moment that you had to the fullest? Something that has helped me grasp the ambiguous concept of mindfulness was having a baby. I knew he was going to change so much so fast and I wanted to absorb every moment and detail to the fullest extent possible. If you always have one foot in the past and your sights set on the future, you miss out on the life that's happening around you now. Live in the moment, carpe diem!
